Message

Jesus said: I will tell you a story about a man who had two sons. Then you can tell me what you think. The father went to the older son and said, "Go work in the vineyard today!" His son told him he would not do it, but later he changed his mind and went. The man then told his younger son to go work in the vineyard. The boy said he would, but he didn't go. Which one of the sons obeyed his father? "The older one," the chief priests and leaders answered. Then Jesus told them: You can be sure tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you ever will!

-Matthew 21:28-32

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. If you are angry, you cannot do any of the good things God wants done. So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.

-James 1:19-21

The of God, filled with the of God, being led by the of God, will produce amazing things.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. For if you listen to the word and don’t obey, it is like glancing at your face in a mirror. You see yourself, walk away, and forget what you look like.

-James 1:22-24

Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Rain poured down, rivers flooded, and winds beat against that house. But it was built on solid rock, and so it did not fall.

-Matthew 7:24-25

But you must never stop looking at the perfect law that sets you free. God will bless you in everything you do, if you listen and obey, and don't just hear and forget. If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Religion that pleases God the Father must be pure and spotless. You must help needy orphans and widows and not let this world corrupt you.

-James 1:25-27
