This Week’s Experience – 4/11/2021

Solomon composed some 3,000 proverbs and wrote 1,005 songs. He also spoke about animals and birds, reptiles and fish. And kings from every nation sent their ambassadors to listen to the wisdom of Solomon.

-1 King 4:32-34

While I was at the window of my house, looking through the curtain, I saw some naive young men, and one in particular who lacked common sense. He was crossing the street in the direction of an adulterous woman. As he continued, he took a path directly to her home as the sun was going down and it was getting dark.

A woman stepped out of the house, seductively dressed, with only one thing on her mind. She was one of those women who are loud and restless and never stay at home, who walk street after street, waiting to trap a man.

-Proverbs 7:6-12

She grabbed him and kissed him, and with no sense of shame, she said: "I had to offer a sacrifice, and there is enough meat left over for a feast. So I came out looking for you. I wanted to find you, and here you are!”

The sheets on my bed are bright-colored cloth from Egypt. I’ve perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Let's go there and make love all night. My husband is not home. He’s away on a long trip. He took a lot of money along, and he won't be back home until much later this month.

And so, she tricked him with all of her sweet talk and her flattery.  Immediately he followed her like an ox being led to slaughter or like a deer leaping towards a trap so a hunter may pierce its liver with an arrow. He was like a bird rushing towards a snare not realizing it was about to cost him his life.

Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say. Don't even think about that kind of woman or stray into her path. Such a woman has caused the downfall and destruction of a lot of men. Her house is the highway to the hell. Her bedroom is the den of death.
