Message notes

The word tithe means 10%.

1.  Tithing is the first 10 percent of my income to God's church so His Kingdom can be advanced.

Ten percent of everything you harvest is holy and belongs to me, whether it grows in your fields or on your fruit trees.

-Leviticus 27:30

HOLY:  To be set apart for God's purposes

2. Tithing is giving God my so He can bless the rest

Honor the Lord by giving him the first and best part of all your income, then your barns will be full, and your vats will overflow with fresh wine.

-Proverbs 3:9-10

The Power of the Tithe:

1.  When I tithe it provides for my church to do God's work.

Bring the entire tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my temple.

-Malachi 3:10a

2.  When I tithe it teaches me to .

The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to put God first in your lives.

-Deuteronomy 14:23

You can never please God without faith, without depending on him. Anyone who wants to come to God must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely look for him.

-Hebrews 11:6

Can a person rob God? You indeed are robbing me, but you say, ‘How are we robbing you?’ In tithes and contributions! You are bound for judgment because you are robbing me—this whole nation is guilty.

-Malachi 3:8-9

You Pharisees and teachers are show-offs, and you’re in for trouble! You give God a tenth of the spices from your garden, such as mint, dill, and cumin. Yet you neglect the more important matters of the Law, such as justice, mercy, and faithfulness. Yes, you should tithe, but you shouldn’t leave the more important things undone.

3.  When I tithe it builds my in God.

Bring the entire tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my temple. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it all.
