When you pray…

-Matthew 6:5

“This, then, is how you should pray: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.”

-Matthew 6:9-13

1. I should not make a out of prayer.

“When you pray, don’t be like the hypocrites who love to pray publicly on street corners and in the synagogues where everyone can see them. I tell you the truth, that is all the reward they will ever get.” When you pray, go into a room alone and close the door. Pray to your Heavenly Father in private. He knows what is done in private, and he will reward you.

-Matthew 6:5-6

2. When I pray, I shouldn’t use words or vain .

“Don’t recite the same prayer over and over as the heathen do, who think prayers are answered only by repeating them again and again. Remember, your Heavenly Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him!”

-Matthew 6:7-8

3. When I pray I must make sure that I have others.

If I had not confessed the sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But God did listen! He paid attention to my prayer.

-Psalm 66:18-19

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins.”

-Matthew 6:14-15

You don’t have the things you want, because you don’t pray for them.  Yet even when you do pray, your prayers are not answered, because you pray just for selfish reasons.

-James 4:2-3
