Message notes

Through your descendants all the nations of the earth will be blessed.

-Genesis 22:18

Promissory Covenant- where one party pledges to the other I will take full responsibility for fulfilling this promise. There are no strings attached and it’s unconditional. I will fulfill it  you do.

Suzerainty Covenant- this kind of covenant also known as a   Covenant is where a greater power dictates to the lesser power all the rules and conditions of the agreement. “If you do this, then I will do that for you”.

After supper he took another cup of wine and said, "This cup is the new covenant between God and his people--an agreement confirmed with my blood, which is poured out as a sacrifice for you.

-Luke 22:20

“The days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt.”

-Jeremiah 31:31-32

The word Testament comes from the Latin word testamentum which was used when the Bible was being translated from Greek to Latin. The original Greek word is diathéké which means .

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
